Who can participate in Parent University?

  • Must live in or have a student in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School System
  • Must complete a Parent University Enrollment Form
  • Must commit to connecting and working with the school and local service providers in order to successfully advocate for your child

How does Parent University work?

Parent U will offer courses at local schools and facilities.

What types of courses are offered?

Parent University courses are organized into four competencies:

Effective Parenting
    - Learn how to support the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of your child

Leadership & Advocacy
    - Develop effective advocacy and leadership skills at the individual, classroom, school and district levels
    - Network with other parents and school staff

Supporting Learning & Navigating the School System
    - Learn effective means of communicating with your child's teacher and school administration
    - Gain skills to support your child's learning

Health Awareness
    - Address the physical, emotional and cognitive development changes of your child
